Starting in 2017 we will be sponsoring two workshops each year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall. Jewish/Islamic Pinewood Derby
The Jewish and Islamic religions have many things in common, including having fun with our children. So, our Scouts will be doing something with absolutely no religious overtones ... having a Pinewood Derby. This will give our Cubs a chance to have a great time plus learn that Scouts of other religions are in many ways not that different from ourselves in a social atmosphere. This event will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the MAS Islamic Center Of Dallas in Richardson, TX. The time has yet to be determined.
Memorial Day U.S. Flag Placements on Graves
Each Memorial and Veterans' Day the Jewish War Veterans and the Dallas Jewish Committee on Scouting sponsor the Scouts to replace worn out and weathered flags on the graves of our veterans or place flags on those veteran's graves that have not previously had flag. On Memorial Day we will meet in the parking lot at the Aaron Family JCC of Dallas at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 28, 2018. From there we will go to the Sherith Israel Memorial Park for an opening salute to the flag, replacing flags at graves there, and then additionally go to other various Jewish cemetaries to place the flags.
